Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
freessl.cloud ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at https://freessl.cloud. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have about your data when you use our SSL certificate generator, SSL checker, website security scanner, and related tools.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly. When you use our SSL certificate generator, you enter domain names and an email address. The email address is passed to Let's Encrypt as the certificate contact for expiry notifications from Let's Encrypt. When you set an SSL expiry reminder, we store your email address and the domain name in order to send a single reminder email.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our site, our servers and Cloudflare (our CDN and DDoS protection provider) automatically record standard web server logs including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This is standard practice for all web servers.
Cookies and similar technologies. We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to understand aggregate usage patterns โ pages visited, session duration, and geography. Google Analytics uses cookies to track sessions. We also display advertisements through Google AdSense, which uses cookies to serve relevant ads. We do not use cookies for authentication or to store personal information ourselves.
2. How we use your information
- Domain names you enter are used solely to generate your SSL certificate via the Let's Encrypt ACME protocol and to perform security or SSL checks you request. They are not stored after the request completes.
- Email addresses provided during certificate generation are forwarded to Let's Encrypt as the certificate contact only. Email addresses provided for expiry reminders are stored only until the reminder is sent, after which they are deleted.
- Server logs are retained for up to 30 days for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and debugging purposes.
- Analytics data (via Google Analytics) is used to understand how our tools are used and to improve them. This data is aggregated and anonymised.
3. Third-party services
Let's Encrypt. Certificate issuance is performed via the Let's Encrypt ACME API. By using our SSL generator you agree to the Let's Encrypt Subscriber Agreement. Let's Encrypt publishes all issued certificates in public Certificate Transparency logs.
Cloudflare. Our site is served through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare processes network traffic in accordance with their Privacy Policy. Cloudflare Turnstile is used on the certificate generation form for bot protection.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to measure site usage. Google may use this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google AdSense. We display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings or www.aboutads.info.
4. Data retention and deletion
We do not store private keys, certificates, or domain names after your session ends. Expiry reminder email addresses are deleted after the reminder email is dispatched. Server access logs are automatically purged after 30 days. Analytics data is retained by Google in accordance with their data retention policies.
5. Security
All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). Private keys generated during certificate issuance are transmitted to your browser over this encrypted connection and are never written to disk or logged on our servers.
6. Children's privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Because we store minimal data and delete most of it automatically, the most effective way to exercise these rights is to not submit your information. For expiry reminders, you can contact us to request deletion of your email address before the reminder is sent.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, you can reach us via the contact information on freessl.cloud.
